Non-Alcoholic Beverages

Updated: May 22

With 2022 coming to a close, many people are taking the time to reflect on their year. New Year’s Resolutions such as taking up a new hobby, committing to the gym, and changing eating habits begin flooding social media. Working in a beer and wine department, I come across many of our customers who want to reassess their drinking habits. I often get asked about non-alcoholic (shortened to N/A) drinks made in alcoholic styles. N/A beers/wines date back to Medieval times and were very popular during prohibition, but there was a swift decline after prohibition was repealed. Since the 1930’s there hasn’t been much thought given to N/A beverages, until recently. During the start of the pandemic in 2020 alcohol sales rose 21% throughout the country, as Americans were forced to stay home and social distance. By the second year, the beverage industry actually saw a decrease in alcohol sales but an increase in non-alcoholic sales. After a crazy year, consumers turned to healthier options without having to give up on the beer and wine flavors they loved. This rising demand has led to an increase in competition between breweries and wineries, creating both better quality and a broader selection in the non-alcohol market. Some of our most popular N/A beers and wines include Best Day Brewing’s Kolsch, Athletic Brewing’s Run Wild IPA, Waterbook Cellar’s Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon and Gruvi Dry Secco, and Pink Bubbly. Whether your New Year’s Resolutions include drinking less or simply trying new things, check out our N/A section; you’ll be surprised by the deliciousness. Cheers, friends!
